Jill Pepper (née Kendall) is a Main Character on Mom. She has been sponsored by Christy Plunkett since Season 2 and is friends with the girls in the sponsor group. She is played by actress Jaime Pressly.

Biography[]

Jill came into the series in Season 2. Jill can come off as insensitive sometimes, but she is actually a very complex character. Her insensitivity and overall air of superiority stems from her lengthy immersion in high society coupled with her deep inner insecurities. Jill arrives on the scene in an A.A. meeting where she is met by Christy. Here she shares that she has had trouble with addiction; leading to a DUI, a suicide attempt and her husband leaving her.

She is a very prideful person and does not like to be viewed as damaged or struggling. Through Marjorie, Christy and the other girls, she found a group to support her through her journey of sobriety. In Season 4, Jill gets pregnant, but suffers a miscarriage and loses the baby. Her friends are supportive and rally around her to help her get back on her feet. After a while, Jill decides she wants to become a foster mother and goes through the process. Once matched, she finds out that the "little girl" she was envisioning was not a baby but a teenager named Emily.

Jill is very excited to give Emily a home, but is nervous that she doesn't seem to be connecting with her. Emily's mother eventually gets her back after Christy helps her become sober, and she and Emily move to Los Angeles. Emily, Natasha and Jill are friendly, however there is still tension between Natasha and Jill.

At the start of Season 5 we see the girls discussing Jill when we have yet to see her: they say that they want to tell Jill something mean but only because they care. When Jill comes in we see that she has become fat from the stress of losing Emily and having to compete with Natasha.

Appearances (Seasons)[]

Season 2[]

Jill came into the series in Season 2 as a rich person who had trouble with addiction, leading her through a DUI, a suicide attempt and her husband leaving her. In "Hepatitis and Lemon Zest", Christy sat down to talk to her, suggested by Marjorie, and became her sponsor. In "Figgy Pudding and the Rapture", Christy becomes homeless and starts living in a motel, while doing anything she can to get money to move back into her house. She invites Jill to where she is staying. In this episode, Jill is introduced to Christy's family. However, by the end of the episode, a drunk Jill interrupts Christy's A.A meeting after having relapsed. Christy takes Jill to Marjorie's house to sober up, where Jill explains that despite her attempts to get sober, her husband proceeded with the divorce. So Jill explains, out of spite, she burned his bobble-head collection before passing out on Marjorie's couch. Jill makes a reappearance in Crazy Eyes and a Wet Brad Pitt where Christy and Bonnie pick her up after rehab. Upon returning to her house, Jill has a break-down over not knowing what to eat next. Christy and Bonnie offer reassurance to her, and in return, Jill allows them to stay at her house. Despite the agreement, Jill has another freak-out later after Christy states she wants to get home to see her kids. Jill suspects Christy of being jealous of her because she doesn't have children or a job. Bonnie and Christy quickly leave, leaving Jill to break-down crying again. In an attempt to make amends, Jill arrives at their house and bought them new dresses as an apology gift. The girls accept the gift and arrive with Jill to their A.A meeting. During Christy's share, Jill returns to the room with cocaine on her nose. Jill begins repeating Christy loudly, before she stands up and collapses on the ground. After being let go from the Hospital, Christy and Bonnie drop Jill off at rehab.
